Aoife McLysaght

Aoife has an academic and professional background in exercise science and health. She has experience in both clinical and fitness settings. Aoife worked as a Health and Wellbeing Physiologist for Nuffield Health in clinics and hospitals across the South of England where she provided comprehensive health assessments and tailored health guidance to patients. Alongside this she worked in the pathology labs analyzing blood samples. She received an Excellence in CARE award from Nuffield Health Oxford Hospital for my work. Aoife completed a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health Science in South Eastern Technological University (SETU). This was followed by a Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and its Application in Therapy from the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) with a thesis on Inflammatory Markers as Biomarkers of Muscle Quality and Fitness. She co-authored an article in the Journal of Physiology “Micro(RNA)-cloud can perpetuate physiological adaptation of skeletal muscle to exercise and energy imbalance”.

In addition to her clinical roles, Aoife has contributed to several volunteer projects, including Mind Body Boost, a European health intervention initiative for students. She worked in the fitness industry as a personal trainer accredited by the European Health and Fitness Association. With a passion for health and exercise in all contexts, Aoife’s current research is focused on Women’s health. Her PhD project will develop “A Digital Health Program Targeting Physical Activity among Middle-Aged Menopausal Women at Risk of Coronary Heart Disease”.
